People with some types of sight impairments or cognitive impairments benefiting from using the High Contrast Mode on their computers.
Viewing your blog in high contrast can be done for free using tools available in PC and Mac operating systems. As an example, to turn on the High Contrast Mode in Windows 7,
- Select the Start menu
- Type "Contrast" in the search field
- Select "Turn High Contrast on or off"
- Choose an option from the High Contrast Themes and your screen will change colours.
Give it shot, explore some sites and share what you discover in the comments below.

if you have Ubuntu you can install the compiz configuration manager and do some even more sophisticated testing, it has a colour filter plugin and you can set this to simulate either the range of colours that can be seen with Deuteranopia or Protanopia (the two major forms of colour blindness) as well as normal things like reducing or increasing contrast.

Alan, thank you for that tip. Another tool to play with.

I knew several people who have to change how they look at their screens. Two of them have all text highlighted with orange and the font is larger. I know another one who sees the screen better when the text is white and the background is black. The one thing they ask of me is to make the font something like Arial without any juts or curly quos. The rest their own PCs can take care of.
